The City of Providence is continuing its cleanup of last Thursday's storm and will continue to remove fallen trees, limbs and branches as quickly as possible.

Residents in the neighborhoods hardest hit by the storm are advised to put tree limbs and branches on the curb for pickup by this Saturday, June 18.

Priority is being given to storm tree debris removal in Hartford, Silver Lake, the West End, Reservoir, Elmwood, South Elmwood, Lower South Providence and Washington Park.

This week's storm-related tree debris pickup is not part of the city's ongoing trash removal schedule. Cleanup crews continue to work daily, and will conclude pickup on Saturday. The City will only pick up storm-related tree debris. Tree limbs and branches that are mixed with construction debris, garbage or any other household refuse will not be removed.

Property owners will be fined if they place construction debris on the curb for pick-up.

Property owners are required to remove trees and other storm-related debris from their property, and are advised to contact their insurance company for recommendations about licensed, bonded private contractors. The city will not haul away trees, limbs or branches placed on the curb by contractors.

Residents are asked to be patient, as many neighborhoods across the City experienced significant damage from the storm on June 9. Once all storm debris is removed the Department of Public Works will conduct street sweeping in those affected neighborhoods.

Calls for storm-related tree debris removal should be directed to the Office of Neighborhood Service at 421-CITY (2489) or the Forestry Division at 785-9450.

Renters with fallen trees or other storm debris that has not been cleared from private property are encouraged to contact their landlord and request that immediate action be taken. Renters whose landlord will not remove storm-related debris from their property should call the Office of Neighborhood Services to request an inspection.

Fallen trees on city streets and other public property that have not yet been removed should be reported directly to the Parks Department Forestry Division at 785-9450.

Please also call the Office of Neighborhood Services at 421- CITY (2489) if you need assistance recovering from the storm.
