James Conte receives Red Cross Ready-to-Go Emergency Preparedness Kit.
Mayor Taveras and PEMA Director Col. Pete Gaynor today congratulated Providence resident James Conte for winning this month's Most Ready Providence Resident award.
The online quiz consists of five multiple choice questions based on information that can be found on the PEMA website. The contest is held every month and the winner is randomly selected from the pool that answers all questions correctly.
"This monthly contest is a good, fun way to encourage residents to stay informed about what they can do to prepare for natural disasters or other emergencies, and to really test their knowledge about these events," said Col. Gaynor. "We encourage all residents to browse our site, get some good tips about how to be prepared, and give the quiz a shot."
Mr. Conte, a former math and physics teacher at Classical High School, received a Red Cross Ready-to-go Emergency Preparedness Kit from the Mayor for winning this month's contest. The kit contains over 38 necessary items needed in case of an emergency. The supplies come in a portable bag making it easy to access and carry. Some of the items included are: bottled water, a flashlight, bandages, emergency blanket and several first aid and personal items.
