
First award recipient receives Ready-to-go Emergency Preparedness Kit
Mayor Angel Taveras today presented Dolores Rovnack with the "Most Ready Resident" Award. Ms. Rovnack, the first recipient of the award, entered by taking an online quiz consisting of five multiple choice questions based on important information found on the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) Website.
The Mayor graciously gave Ms. Rovnack a quick tour of his office before presenting her with the award. "Congratulations on being the first winner, what you are doing is very important" said Mayor Taveras
Colonel Peter Gaynor, Director of PEMA presented Ms. Rovnack with The Red Cross Ready-to-go Emergency Preparedness Kit, which contains over 38 necessary items needed incase of an emergency. The supplies come in a portable bag making it easy to access and carry. Some of the items included are: bottled water, a flashlight, bandages, emergency blanket and several first aid and personal items.
The "Ready Providence" Campaign is designed to educate and empower Providence residents to prepare for and respond to emergencies. The contest is held every month where a winner is randomly selected at the end of each month based on their quiz entries.
