Plan

Your family may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan in advance: how you will contact one another; how you will get back together; and what you will do in different situations.

You should have a Family Emergency Plan as well as a Plan to Stay or Go should you have to leave your home or business.

Family Emergency Plan

Ready.gov as developed a new Online Family Emergency Planning Tool to prepare a printable Comprehensive Family Emergency Plan.

Plan to Stay or Go

Stay

Whether you are at home, work or elsewhere, there may be situations when it's simply best to stay where you are and avoid any uncertainty outside - Stay.

Go

There may be conditions under which you will decide to get away, or there may be situations when you are ordered to leave. Plan how you will assemble your family and anticipate where you will go. Choose several destinations in different directions so you have options in an emergency - Go.

High-Rise Building Safety

The National Fire Protection Association defines "high-rise building" as a building greater than 75 feet (25 m) in height where the building height is measured from the lowest level of fire department vehicle access to the floor of the highest occupiable story. With these facts in mind it is important that tenants of high-rise buildings in Providence have a plan for any emergency.
