The Lime Rock Quarries, Lincoln, Rhode Island

Lime Rock was the center of the oldest continuous mining operation in the United States. Many superb specimens of bowenite, calcite, quartz, and talc were found during the 340 years that the marble, colloquially "limestone," was extracted for mortar and agricultural lime. Join us as we learn about the history and minerals of this geologically and economically important place.
