Providence Redevelopment Agency Seeks Bids to Restore Vacant and Abandoned Properties
PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza and Providence Redevelopment Agency (PRA) Executive Director Bonnie Nickerson announced that the Agency will be accepting proposals for qualified individuals and entities to redevelop 13 properties that have been identified in the Special Redevelopment Plan for Vacant Houses.
“This initiative will help us fix abandoned properties that have been a blight in our community for up to ten years,” said Mayor Elorza. “We’re bringing hundreds of vacant properties back to life and making our neighborhoods stronger and more vibrant.”
Proposals must be developed in accordance with the PRA’s Special Redevelopment Plan for Vacant Houses, Providence Zoning Ordinances and Comprehensive Plan. The PRA will score bids based on the criteria developed by The Evaluation Committee and listed in the Request for Proposals (RFP).
The Evaluation Committee will award up to 90 points for the technical criteria of a proposal. Purchase prices of proposals will be awarded a maximum of ten points and will, by comparison, be a secondary consideration.
“We’re looking forward to getting to work redeveloping blighted properties throughout our City and helping to restore and revitalize our neighborhoods block-by-block,” said Bonnie Nickerson, Director of Planning and Development and Executive Director of the PRA.
The PRA will host an informational optional Pre-Bid meeting for contractors and developers interested in submitting proposals on Thursday, March 1 from 5:00pm – 6:00pm at the Joseph A. Doorley Jr. Municipal Building at 444 Westminster Street in the first-floor conference room.
