PROVIDENCE, RI – Due to expected winter storm conditions Providence Public Schools and afterschool activities are canceled for Monday, March 21, 2016. A citywide parking ban will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 21, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents with overnight parking passes are advised that they cannot park on the street during the duration of the citywide parking ban. Vehicles parked on the street in violation of the citywide parking ban will be subject to ticketing and towing to ensure roadways can be cleared.
Residents are invited to contact the Mayor’s Center for City Services by dialing 3-1-1 or using the PVD311 mobile app, which is available for iPhone and Android.
Individuals are reminded never to touch downed power lines and report downed lines and power outages to National Grid at 800-322-3223. In the event of an emergency, dial 911.
Garbage and recycling collection will be suspended on Monday. Collection will be on a holiday schedule, taking place the following day throughout the week with Friday collection taking place on Saturday.

The Department of Public Works has prepared all equipment and personnel to respond to the storm. Roadways will be pretreated ahead of the expected snowfall.
