Charles A. Ruggerio joined the Law Department as a Deputy City Solicitor in the Fall of 2012. He serves primarily as legal counsel to the Providence School Department representing the Department on labor, employment and education law related issues.
In this capacity Charles is responsible for representing the Department in administrative hearings, arbitration proceedings and collective bargaining with the Department five different bargaining units representing over three thousand employees.
Prior to joining the law department, Charles was legal counsel to a statewide public sector labor union. His practice focused on representing the union and individuals in arbitration proceedings and he served as the principal negotiator for multiple collective bargaining agreements which included complex healthcare and pension related issues.
Charles is a graduate of Pace University in new York and graduated with honors from Albany Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York and Rhode Island and is a native Rhode Islander who enjoys spending time with his family and doting on his young daughters.
