PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced an aggressive citywide street sweeping program currently underway on main streets, with neighborhood street sweeping beginning this week.
“DPW crews work every day to ensure safe streets for vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians,” said Mayor Elorza. “With the winter behind us, our street sweeping program will expand into neighborhoods, where residents can continue to expect the high quality city service they deserve.”
Crews will work to clean streets throughout the City nightly from 10:30PM-7AM. To find the complete schedule, residents are asked to visit the Department of Public Works’ website at www.providenceri.com/DPW/highway/street-sweeping.
Residents can also check the status of street sweeping by visiting www.pvd311.com or through the PVD311 mobile application.
Yard waste collection will begin on Monday, April 18. Residents are encouraged to recycle and compost all yard debris. Yard waste should be left curbside on regular recycling and trash collection days. Sticks and trimmings should be cut shorter than 4 feet and tied together. Yard waste may not be placed in plastic bags.
