Mayor Jorge Elorza today joined the City’s Graffiti Task Force, Public Works Director Michael Borg, and Mayor’s Center for City Services (MCCS) Director Andy Jacques for a graffiti cleanup and pothole repair at the intersection of Barrows Street and Plainfield Avenue in the Silver Lake neighborhood. City officials highlighted the commencement of the graffiti cleanup service for the season, a pothole repair procedure, and reminded residents that they can report these issues using the PVD311 system.
“Our goal is to keep our city looking beautiful by having the most responsive municipal team possible,” said Mayor Elorza. “I encourage businesses and residents to help us keep our neighborhoods looking good by reporting issues like graffiti and potholes using PVD311.”
Through the PVD311 system, residents can dial 3-1-1 from their landline or mobile phone to reach MCCS. They can also use the PVD311 mobile application which is available to download on iOS through the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play. The City of Providence also offers 24-hour online assistance at providenceri.gov/pvd311.
MCCS Representatives tend to non-emergency calls during business hours and residents are able to leave a message during off-hours. Calls are tracked 24 hours a day through a comprehensive database, which allows the city to monitor the incoming flow and types of requests and follow up with residents with updates.
Weather permitting, the Graffiti Task Force uses high-pressure washers and paint to remove and address graffiti throughout the city.
