Residents Encouraged to Request Online Parking Permit Through Streamlined Application Process
April 14, 2021
PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Elorza today joined Councilman David Salvatore (ward 14) to launch an online overnight parking permit as a result of continued efforts to modernize and simplify city services.
“This is another step we are taking to continuously provide easy, streamlined access to Providence city services,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “This new online permit allows residents and visitors a convenient new tool that helps to expedite the entire permit process. I encourage everyone applying or renewing an overnight parking permit to try it out today.”
Applicants can visit https://www.providenceri.gov/public-works/forms/ and select Overnight Parking Application which will lead them to the online system offering various options for permits and licenses. A user account will be required to complete an online permit that can be paid with a credit card or electronic check. As part of the system, Viewpoint offers all application options to choose from once an applicant is logged on. Viewpoint is embedded across City departments, often eliminating the need for applicants to submit duplicate information that is repeated across multiple departments.
“As an alternative to driving to the Department of Public Works or the Public Safety Complex, digital access for residents and visitors to apply for parking permits online is now quick and easy from anywhere,” said Councilor David Salvatore. “This modern-day application will also provide the city with an additional tool that ensures services, such as street sweeping are communicated effectively.”
Parking permit fees remain unchanged requiring $100 annually for a Providence registered vehicle, $200 annually for an out of city registered vehicle and $25 for a guess pass, valid for five times per month for one year. Applying for an overnight parking permit via mail or in-person will remain an option for applicants.
Since taking office in 2015, the Administration has launched online permits and applications for several departments including the Department of Licenses, Inspection and Standards, Art Culture and Tourism and Vital Records.
