Mayor Brett P. Smiley today announced the City of Providence is now accepting nominations for its twenty-third annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Individuals inducted to the MLK Hall of Fame are civic leaders that support the legacy of Dr. King and embody his work here in Providence.
“The legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. continues to inspire Providence to build a more just and equitable city. We have dedicated neighbors and civic leaders who constantly advocate for justice and opportunity in our communities,” said Mayor Brett Smiley. “I invite the public to nominate these dedicated individuals who uphold Dr. King’s deep commitment to service. I look forward to recognizing these community leaders who have helped to make Providence a welcoming, inclusive city for all who work, visit and live here.”
Letters of nomination will be accepted until Monday, December 22. Nominees must be a resident of Providence or have accomplished a significant amount of community work in Providence. Letters should be no more than two pages long and specify how the nominee exemplifies the spirit of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s commitment to equity, civil rights and justice.
