The Mayor’s Office and the Providence Human Relations Commission provided over $1,300 worth of supplies for local tribes to provide critical support to the indigenous community. The supplies included toilet paper, gloves, sanitizer, soap, paper towels, and cleaning wipes.
“I’d like to acknowledge the Human Relations Commission & Commissioner Ray Two Hawks Watson. Led by Commissioner Watson, the Commissions procured a supply of PPE and cleaning products for distribution to Providence’s indigenous tribes. I am grateful for such advocacy and outreach that protects our diverse communities throughout the city,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza
Chief Keshonn Red Spirit of the Wabbaquasset Nipmuc, Chief Tracey Dancing Star of the Pokanoket, and Chief Raymond Two Hawks of the Mashapaug Nahaganset were instrumental in bringing forth the concerns of local tribes.
The tribes expressed appreciation for Mayor Elorza and the City of Providence’s ongoing support and look forward to more opportunities for partnerships in the future.
