SUNDAY 1899, Victorian Cemetery Picnic
June 7, 2026 from 12-4 PM
Every June North Burial Ground goes back in time to a Sunday in 1899 when NBG was the place to go for recreation and relaxation. Celebrate NBG’s Garden Cemetery sections with a day dedicated to the Victorians and their love of cemeteries. Enter the cemetery through our stately marble steps and be transported to another time. Bring your own picnic and enjoy some Victorian-era beverages and candy; have a tintype photo taken in the cemetery by Cole Caswell of AgNO3 Labs; listen to poetry and songs from the period with Cate Clifford; tour NBG’s Victorian monuments; visit the Absinthe Society’s Oscar Wilde-themed open mic night; make a Victorian inspired scrapbook page; have your tarot cards read by Dr. Eliza Collins; and enjoy imagining what North Burial Ground might have been like when 1,000 neighbors came to walk the grounds and picnic every single Sunday. Period attire is encouraged, but not required.
Tickets are 20.00 per person, and can be purchased at the door, or by using the paylink below.
