First responders will practice annual drill of emergency evacuation system

PROVIDENCE, RI– The Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will conduct the annual Port Evacuation Drill which includes a test activation of the Port of Providence Emergency Siren Warning System (PPESWS) at noon on Monday, November 15, 2021.
The primary goal of these tests is to ensure proper functioning of the sirens and the system control panels associated with them.
These sirens may be audible in surrounding communities. Residents do not need to take any action during this drill. The alert signal will be followed by the message:
“This is a test of the emergency management public warning system. This is only a test.”
