City Prepares Ahead of Winter Storm
PROVIDENCE, RI – Due to winter storm conditions, Providence Public Schools and Recreation Centers will be closed tomorrow, January 4 and Friday, January 5. There will also be a citywide parking ban beginning at 10:00AM on January 4, which will remain in effect until further notice. City offices will be open January 4 however; employees whose positions are non-essential will not be required to report to work.
Garbage and recycling pickup will be operating on a delayed schedule this week and next week. Scheduled pick up times for Thursday will be moved to Friday and pickup times for Friday will be rescheduled for Saturday. Residents are encouraged to remove all trash and recycling barrels from the curb. This will be helpful to snow plows and prevent the wind from blowing them over.
