PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza and Council President Sabina Matos today announced new age flexibility for additional hard-hit zip codes impacted by COVID-19. Residents ages 50 and older from neighborhoods comprised of zip codes 02904 and 02905 will immediately be eligible for vaccine appointments at upcoming vaccination clinics.
I want to commend the Rhode Island Department of Health for granting our request to expand prioritized vaccination efforts targeting our residents hardest hit by COVID-19,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “We will continue to work with our local clinics and partners who are doing tremendous work to equitably and efficiently enroll and vaccinate our residents.”
Vaccine clinics managed by the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will continue to be accessible to all eligible Providence residents ages 65 and older as well as those who are 50 and older in the hard-hit zip codes of 02904, 02905, 02907, 02908 and 02909.
“I am glad to see the expansion of the vaccines to include 02904 and 02905 zip codes. We must do everything we can to get as many people 50+ vaccinated, especially those in multi-generational households, and that are part of our historically marginalized communities,” said Providence City Council President Sabina Matos. “I now hope that we can also work to address the issues of vaccinating residents with co-morbidities and underlying health conditions. I also want to thank all the community partners and volunteers who are working day in and day out to ensure that shots get in arms.”
Providence residents ages 65 and older or 50 and older living in zip codes 02904, 02905, 02907, 02908, and 02909 are encouraged to register for vaccine clinics through the City’s online portal VaccinatePVD.com. If residents cannot register themselves, they are asked to please call and connect to the Mayor’s Center for City Services by dialing 3-1-1 or (401) 421-2489. Representatives are available to help fill out the registration form on the constituents’ behalf in English or Spanish.
Appointments are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. All Providence COVID-19 vaccines are available to residents at no cost and insurance is not required. Vaccines are available to all eligible residents of all immigration statuses.
