PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of Providence announced that it has reached a resolution with IAFF Local 799 that will resolve the following legal matters:
- Ongoing Arbitration
- State Court Action (including Supreme Court Appeals and Superior Court Complaints)
- Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Lawsuit
“I am pleased that the City and the Fire fighters union have been able to reach a resolution that is fair to all parties,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “I am grateful to Chief Justice Frank Williams, Union President Paul Doughty, Union Vice President Derek Silva, Public Safety Commissioner Steven Paré, City Solicitor Jeffrey Dana and all who worked tirelessly on this. I look forward to resolving all of these matters and working together as a city to move Providence forward.”
The resolution will result in $5.9 million ($2.8 million for ongoing arbitration, $3.1 million for FLSA) to be paid out to members over two fiscal years. This agreement will go to IAFF Local 799 for review.
