Michael A. Calise is the Chief of the Law Department’s Civil Litigation Unit. In addition to overseeing the city’s civil litigation, he represents the city in a variety of matters. During his tenure at the Law Department, he has litigated cases involving municipal liability, the public duty doctrine, and many other issues. Michael is a skilled drafter of legislation and advises a number of City departments on issues that arise daily.
A Providence native and graduate of Classical High School, Michael joined the Law Department in 2004. He graduated from Bryant University in 1999 and from New England School of Law in 2002.
An aspiring runner and sometimes musician, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children.
