Investment in Providence
At a gathering overlooking the new Providence River Pedestrian Bridge, Mayor Jorge Elorza, City Council President Sabina Matos, Pro Tempore Michael Correia, and Director of Planning and Development Bonnie Nickerson, took a moment to celebrate the significant amount of new development across Providence. The newly-renovated Heritage Building, home to our gracious hosts, Duffy & Sweeney and Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick, provided the perfect backdrop to celebrate the over 40 new projects under construction or under development. These developments include new hotels, residential, affordable residential, commercial and institutional projects. In addition to development, there has been a significant emphasis on the rehabilitation of vacant and abandoned properties, including adaptive reuse of former industrial structures. Together, these developments highlight one way Providence’s communities are experiencing new investment.
