A current look at the Park through postcards from the past. Experience the beauty of “the people’s park” today as Rhode Islanders have done for more than a century. This exhibit features postcards and photographs of the park by local artist Bob Martin. Complimenting the exhibit are collections from the museum’s archives and vaults.
After visiting the museum locate postcard signage and scan the QR codes located at 19 locations in the Roger Williams Park, near the Museum, Casino, Carousel and Boathouse. Each QR code takes you to an animation that puts you in the scene of the postcard. What is different? What is the same? Post your modern-day postcard by taking a selfie at the Lover’s Lane Bridge or the old site of the Bandleader in Roosevelt Pond. Thank you to Bob Martin, Roger Williams Park Conservancy, City of Providence Parks Department and Department of Arts, Culture, and Tourism for making this interactive art exhibit possible.
