Launches Online Portal for Residents to Share Moments of Kindness
February 17, 2020
PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced a new Acts of Kindness portal to receive submissions citywide to better support and spread kindness in Providence. In January of 2019, Mayor Elorza launched the Providence City of Kindness initiative which committed Providence to better connecting communities through kindness and building a city that cares for the wellbeing of every community member. From making a donation to your favorite non-profit to sharing a message of encouragement with a friend, the City of Providence invites all residents and visitors to participate in an act of kindness on National Random Acts of Kindness Day and submit it to the portal.
“In a world where we see diseases of despair on the rise and a lack of connectedness increasing, we chose in Providence to respond with kindness,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “Every resident of every age can participate in this initiative and submit an act of kindness you witnessed, or participated in, to help spread this initiative citywide.”
The City invites residents to submit an act of kindness they have witnessed through the City of Kindness webpage. With permission, these submissions will be shared on the City’s website to celebrate compassion and kindness as well as encourage future actions that foster kindness between neighbors and networks.
