History

45 acres of walking trails through the woods in a well cared for conservation area, deeded to the city between 1861-1865. Please, only leashed dogs are allowed. Ideal for bird watching and gentle hikes. The park abuts the Seekonk River and contains two ponds- York Pond and Hockey Pond. An event lawn known as Blackstone Field is located at approximately 2 River Dr across from the private Boat Club. There is a picnic area and kiosk at the trailhead on Parkside Drive. Additional trailheads may be accessed via Loring Ave, Gulf Ave, Angell St, and Paterson St next to Paterson Park.

Recent Improvements

  • Split-rail trail fence repairs made in 2025.
  • Trails and walking paths were renovated in 2021.
  • Kayak Launch was added along River Drive in fall 2020.
