Providence Parks
Columbia Park
History
A long park with trees and hills at the end of quiet street. It seems to have been planned out along with the growth of the Washington Park neighborhood, deeded to the city in 1912. The grounds hosted baseball through the 1950’s. The 1960’s swapped baseball for basketball, and the second basketball court was added sometime during the 1980’s. The first formal playground equipment was installed during the 1990’s and replaced in 2020.
A full loop around the park’s walking path (including up and down the hill) measures one-quarter mile.
