Providence Parks
Donigian Park
History
This park was deeded to the City in the 1920’s and named in December of 1946 in honor of Private John W. Donigian, killed in Sicily in WWII. Offers one of the few canoe launch sites in Providence onto the Woonasquatucket River. The Parks Department maintains roughly a tenth of a mile of the Woonasquatucket River Greenway that runs through the park, providing connection from Valley St to Sonoma Ct / Delaine St to the south. Besides the bike path, there are additional park entrances on Valley St, Bartow St, and Cutler St. One loop of the walking path around the entire park measures approximately one-quarter mile.
