To help prepare you and your family for a disaster, make a home kit with what you will need to shelter in place for 3 days. Gathering supplies ahead of time will also help in case you have to evacuate at a moment’s notice.
Items to include
- Non-perishable food for 3 days
- 3 gallons of water per person
- Manual can opener
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Radio (battery-powered or hand-crank)
- Whistle to signal for help
- First Aid Kit
- Medication
- Dusk mask, plastic sheeting, and duct tape
- Moist towelettes and garbage bags
- Infant supplies such as diapers and formula
- Pet supplies such as food and water
- Important documents
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you should also include face coverings, hand sanitizer, and disinfectants in your home kit
